Michel (Mike) Aubin           [ All Programs ]                     > CREDENTIALS                     > COMPETITION           During his high school years, Mike began training with the Freestyle Wrestling           team, and quickly achieved a great deal of success within the art. Stepping           forward and challenging himself, Mike also has competition experience in the           Ontario Winter Games, receiving numerous medal awards at the Provincial and           local levels. It was in 1991 that Mike began training in the traditional form of           Okinawan Karate, within which he received his black belt in 2000.           Wanting to explore another art in order to compliment his current skillset, a           short time later Mike began to study the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. An avid           practitioner and student, he has since met and trained with several BJJ legends           such as Carlos Gracie Jr., Renzo Gracie, Igor Gracie, Holles Gracie, Gregor Gracie,           Roger Gracie, Braulio Estima, and of course, Pat Cooligan. After years of dedication           and training, it was in 2007 when Mike was awarded the rank of Renzo Gracie           Blue Belt.           Mike has also challenged himself within the realm of professional Mixed Martial           Arts, and in 2008 while preparing for an MMA fight, he with John Cole, met and           befriended Kru Leroi De Leon, a local Muay Thai instructor with over 15 years           experience. Additionally, since 2008, Mike has been attending private and group           training sessions with Kru Chris Kew from MAS Thai Boxing - Cambridge.           As a competitor, Mike has continued onward, contesting himself as often as the           possibilities arise.
