Born and raised in the nation's capital, Kyle Marcus is now a key figure in
Sudbury MMA's development.  Being an extremely active and sporting individual
from an early age in Ottawa, Ontario, Kyle now makes his home in Sudbury
having moved to persue an education in Business.  Once settled in the Nickel
District, he came to befriend the son of National and International Muay Thai
Champion, Ajarn Gordie Gong.  After passing on the opportunity a number of
times to train at his gym, Marcus eventually decided to attend a class.  Kyle
quickly came to realize the skills posessed by the former Muay Thai Champion,
who also happened to be accredited in six other martial arts.  Having spent time
training one-on-one with his son, Kyle felt it was time to learn from the Master
himself, dedicating himself completely to the art, commuting every weekend for
two years to learn from, as well as train with Ajarn Gong from sunrise to sunset,
returning home to practice and self-train until the subsequent Friday when the
          cycle would continue.

Once the expense had caught up with him, Kyle sought a local alternative to
the great Ajarn Gong, eventually happening upon a random meeting with Kru
LeRoi.  Consequently, Marcus would end up training with Kru 'Lee' daily at the
Laurentian University Gym, honing his Muay Thai technique and skill.  What had
originally stemmed from a simple desire to shed some extra weight had now fully
grown to what can only be classified as an obsession, and with this obsession
Kyle began to expand his interest outward, trying to absorb as much of the
Art as possible.  The life philosophies, the control of one's body and emotions,
and the connection to ancient culture proved to be what Kyle felt was all he
          needed in life.

Later, Kru 'Lee' would recommend a local Martial Arts school in the Ken Bu Kan
Dojo to Kyle, where he would meet with John Cole Sensei.  Shortly thereafter,
Cole Sensei began to discuss with Kyle Marcus the possibilities of integrating
the Art of Muay Thai into the class regimen in his constantly expanding club,
Sudbury MMA.  With pride, Kyle accepted the offer, and began training at a
club, rather than the College Gym for approximately one year.

It was at this time that Kyle decided it was time to make another leap in his
skillset while furthering his fighting spirit, boarding a plane for Thailand.  For 4
months, he spent 8 hours per day, 7 days a week training in Chiang Mai under
Andy Thompson, Owner of the legendary Lanna Muay Thai (Kiat Busaba), and
alongside a plethora of professional fighters.  This experience not only touched
the very soul of Kyle, but also provided his mind with a deeper understanding
of just what it takes to be successful in the world of Martial Arts.

As this chapter in his life came upon a close, Kyle began another when he
returned to Canada and started training at Windsor Muay Thai under Ajarn Gary
Dune - another former National Champion.  For one year, they would train
together as Kyle assisted in establishing a location for Ajarn Dune to teach and
train others in his own unique form of Muay Thai, before he would return to
Sudbury, where he felt most at home.  Since his return, Marcus has been
constantly teaching and training at Sudbury MMA, bringing with him the pride
and knowledge acquired from years of patience, persistence and dedication to
the sport, and lifestyle.  Kyle's fondness for the organization branches from what
he refers to as "an environment that welcomes everyone and accepts people for
who they are," and is honoured to be a part of the Sudbury MMA lineage of Thai
fighters.  In addition, Kyle finds a fondness for being associated with Team
Renzo Gracie, while maintaining a strong bond at Sudbury MMA with such a large
group of motivated people sharing a love for Muay Thai.

"It is truly a blessed feeling!  Sawatdee khrap!  CHOK DEE!"
