Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive
about the school. We have also included a small section which includes some
general information that might be of interest to prospective students.
Q: Do you teach kids?
A: Absolutely! We teach kids from the age of 4 years and up. Our Wee Warriors
program, which is specifically for tots aged 4-6, currently runs twice a week
(Tuesdays and Thursdays) and is the perfect introduction to Martial Arts for kids.
Our Kid's classes for older children (aged 7-12) are currently held five nights a
week (Monday through Thursday, and Saturdays). Our kid's membership fee
allows them to train at any class, depending on what suits their and your schedule.

Q: Do you teach beginners?
A: Yes, in fact, we love beginners! Contrary to what many people may think,
you do not need any previous experience or be a super athlete to study martial
arts. 90% of our students train recreationally to simply have fun, try a different
work out and learn something different.

Q: Do you go to competitions?
A: We most certainly do, however competition is not mandatory. Our competitive
students have participated in competition all over Canada and the United States
in various events such as Karate, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and
MMA. Our competing students are some of the most accomplished of any martial
art school in Northern Ontario!

Q: What do I need when I start training?
A: When you're starting out at our club, really, all you need is a pair of shorts
and a t-shirt. Although we recommend bringing a change of shirts if you are
attending more than one class in one night.
We provide our members with all
of the necessary equipment for training. As you progress, you will more than likely
want to invest in some of your own equipment. For those who attend Muay Thai
they will likely invest in a pair of gloves, hand wraps, shin guards; those attending
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and/or Karate may purchase a Gi.

Q: How many classes can I attend?
A: We have several classes 6 days out of the week. We are currently offering
evening classes throughout the weekdays and additionally offer Saturday classes
mid-day. Your monthly membership is applicable to all available classes, as often
as you want, in any or all programs (martial arts) you want. Our memberships are
all-inclusive, in other words, if you wanted to and were available to, you could
attend each and every class held for your age group. While other clubs and gyms
may have a limit or cap on how many days/classes you may attend, and potentially
charge you extra for different programs or additional classes, we encourage our
students to come in as often as they can at no extra charge. Attending as many
classes as possible is especially beneficial to those who are training for competition
as increased attendance better prepares the student.

Q: How much are memberships?
A: Membership for adults (16 years and up) is $80.00/month (Payment options for
this membership are 1 monthly payment of $80.00 or bi-weekly payments of
$40.00)
Membership for individuals under the age of 16 is $65.00/month
We also offer student and family discounts, please contact us for further details.
For all memberships, there is a one time registration fee of $30.00 upon enrolment
at the club.
There are absolutely NO hidden fees outside of the membership dues. Any
additional costs that may come up, for example, equipment, seminar fees,
competition fees, road trips, club events, etc. are 100% optional. Students who
choose not to participate in such additional opportunities are not required to.
These events are offered to everyone at the club, however are not necessary to
maintain membership.

Q: Is my membership locked in for a year?
A: Absolutely not! We do ask for 30 days notice for cancellations of
memberships, however we do not lock anyone into a long membership contract.
We want all of our members to be active pariticipants in the club because they
want to be there, not due to contractual obligations!

Q: When can I start?
A: Any time a class is being held, you can come on in and start! We do not
have designated times for registration. When you're ready, just come join us!

Q: Are sports drinks or juice allowed during classes?
A: They absolutely are! We wouldn't want anyone to dehydrate, that's for sure.
In fact, a variety of sports beverages, juice, and bottle water are available for
purchase at the club. We only ask that beverages are kept in spill proof bottles
or containers to minimize messes.

Q: Do you offer private lessons?
A: We do in fact offer one-on-one training for those who are interested. Private
instruction is booked on a per session basis as we would need to find time slots
to co-ordinate with both the instructor's schedule as well as yours. If you are
interested please contact Chief Instructor John Cole or Administrative
Staff for details and bookings.

OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT SUDBURY MMA:
- We have several different instructors to learn from, however our 4 main
instructors are life-long martial artists who have individually achieved 15-25
years of training experience
- Our club's instructors are Black Belts in Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kempo,
Jiu Jitsu (Japanese), and Muay Thai
- Members of our school also have ranking in Freestyle Wrestling, Kickboxing,
Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kempo, and Boxing. This broad spectrum of
experience provides our members with the most diverse training experience
in Northern Ontario!
- Our school has competed in several types of martial arts tournaments such as
Karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Full Contact Sanshou, Muay Thai, Kickboxing,
Wrestling, and MMA.
- Our Muay Thai Instructor was an alternate for the Olympic games in Tae Kwon Do.
- Our Chief Instructor has an undefeated MMA record of 3-0
- In 2009, we had four athletes compete at the World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Mundials
and we brought home a total of three medals.
- Our students have won medals in both BJJ competitions and Muay Thai
competitions including a provincial championship from CASK.
- We have several membership incentive packages for both new members and
our existing members
- We are affiliated with Team Renzo Gracie Ottawa, one of the largest and top
level Muay Thai, MMA and BJJ schools in Canada.
- Our facility is 2200 square feet, which includes punching bags, a large mat space
and a 20x20 boxing ring
